This Filipina Entrepreneur Has the Chicest, Hubadera Maternity Style
Sarah Genove-Yu proves that being pregnant isn’t a hindrance from wearing what you want. In fact, it poses to be a fun challenge to flex your sartorial creativity. The fun comes with picking out clothes that won’t hide your bump, and instead highlight it!
The 29-year-old entrepreneur who founded online flower shop, Pretty Withered and non-profit organization Project 1K PH, is currently pregnant with her second child. While she’s known for her polished and hubadera OOTDs, Sarah says that her maternity style isn’t that much different versus when she wasnât growing a tiny human. The only thing that changed is that she leans towards comfier pieces of clothing now to make way for her belly. “Dressing up is one of the things that spark joy and it gives me a boost of confidence. I really donât want to wear maternity clothes,” Sarah explains.
âI still wear clothes in neutral colors and I still love classic pieces. My style is pretty much the same but with changes in the outfits that I choose. When I wasn’t pregnant yet, my go-to outfits are usually cropped tops, paired with pants and stilettos. Now, I would go for a simple smock or slip dress with a pair of slip-ons or trainers which are more comfortable during pregnancy,â she adds.
A pro tip from Sarah: Use what you already have in your wardrobe and invest in pieces that you can continue wearing after your pregnancy. Pregnancy-approved dresses such as smock, shift, stretchable bodycon, and slip dresses are must-haves in her book.
Sarah also says it’s wise to invest in a large bag. âThis works to cater to our personal needs during pregnancy and later on, functions as a diaper/baby bag,â she shares. Don’t forget to get a good pair of walking shoes, too! Sarah notes that being a mom will keep you on your feet most of the time!
Ever the pragmatist, the influencer always tries to be practical and conscious of her purchases as she shares, âPregnant or not, I will always choose pieces that would make me feel good about myself. I don’t think pregnancy and the changes happening to my body should limit my style. As long as you accept and embrace all these changes happening, your outfits will always complement it.â Hear, hear!
